Petzl Rollclip A, Pulley-Carabiner, Triact-Lock

The ROLLCLIP series from Petzl are versatile pulley-carabiners available in two models – the ROLLCLIP A and ROLLCLIP Z – each with various locking mechanisms to suit different applications.

The ROLLCLIP A is designed with a gate opening on the pulley side, facilitating the installation of the rope when the pulley is fixed to an anchor point. It is offered with either an automatic TRIACT-LOCK locking system or without a locking mechanism. The ROLLCLIP A can be used in conjunction with a CAPTIV positioning bar, which helps align the carabiner along the major axis, reducing the risk of it flipping and keeping it securely integrated with the device.

The ROLLCLIP Z, on the other hand, features a gate opening on the non-pulley side, making it easier to install on anchors and other equipment. This model is available with two locking systems: the automatic TRIACT-LOCK or the manual SCREW-LOCK.

Both the ROLLCLIP A and ROLLCLIP Z offer several user-friendly features that enhance their versatility and ease of use:

Smooth Operation: The sheave is mounted on sealed ball bearings, providing excellent efficiency during operation.

Secure Attachment: The Keylock system prevents any accidental snagging of the carabiner when placing the pulley.

Robust Construction: The H-shaped cross-section of the carabiner ensures an improved strength-to-weight ratio and protects the markings from abrasion.

The ROLLCLIP series is compatible with a wide range of rope sizes, accommodating diameters between 7 and 13 mm. The sheave diameter is 18 mm, and the maximum working load is 4 kN (2 x 2 kN). The efficiency of the pulleys is rated at 85%.

In terms of strength ratings, the major axis strength is 20 kN, the minor axis strength is 8 kN, and the open gate strength is 7 kN.

The ROLLCLIP A pulley can be used as a directional point on the lower attachment point of the ASCENSION handled rope clamp, facilitating short rope ascents. Similarly, the ROLLCLIP Z pulley can be used as a directional point on the upper attachment point of the ASCENSION, also for short rope ascents.

Furthermore, the ROLLCLIP A pulley can be used in conjunction with the RESCUCENDER rope clamp, while the ROLLCLIP Z pulley can be utilized in tree care applications, where it can be attached to the attachment bridge on the SEQUOIA harness to improve lateral mobility when using the ZIGZAG descender.
